Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 4 cups water (divided)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or maple syrup
  • ice
  • lemon sliced and mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Extract the juice from fresh lemons until you have about 1 cup. Be sure to remove any seeds.
  • Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and 3 cups of cold water. Stir thoroughly and adjust the sweetness, if needed.
  • Serve the lemonade over ice. Add lemon slices and a few sprigs of fresh mint for a decorative and flavorful touch, if desired.
